The role

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Marketing, you’ll be responsible for generating demand for our entire apps portfolio. You’ll have two main goals: continue to bring new customers to our mature On Premise offerings, and help our younger Cloud products “cross the chasm” as Geoffrey Moore would say. We’ll expect you to help us build a scalable, predictable, modern B2B demand generation engine across various channels. To date, our growth engine relies on three pillars: content for generating inbound leads, partnerships with both solution partners of Atlassian who configure the tools for their clients and act as prescribers for our apps, and vendors of complementary apps who we integrate with, and pre-sales for enterprise customers. You’ll be expected to scale and optimize these channels, as well as explore new untapped demand generation opportunities to spur revenue growth for our apps.

To this end, you will be able to rely on an agile, talented and committed team, working in a lean mindset (outcomes over output).

This position is located in Toulouse, and is open to remote work up to half of each month.

Key responsibilities

Management

    • • Define and constantly challenge the demand generation strategy in line with the global business strategy; work with each members of the demand generation team to co-shape each channel strategy (content, partnerships, presales) and key results
    • • Supervise the development and execution of all lead generation programs (including but not limited to search, content, email, display and events) to drive free trials, demo requests, and optimize top of the funnel conversion rates
    • • Lead and manage the demand generation team: foster a sane, agile, result-oriented and highly collaborative work atmosphere; onboard, mentor, coach and assess team members
    • • Encourage the demand generation team to take part in the continuous feedback loop between Product and Marketing, and actively contribute to bringing back information from clients about their needs and expectations
    • • Set a tone of high standards, customer obsession and data driven disciplined decision-making
    • • Forecast, measure, analyze and report on the impact of demand creation activities on sales pipeline

Hands-on work

    • • Own our corporate website, and make sure it is aligned to our strategy and impacts our demand generation and product marketing key metrics positively. You’ll be expected to lead the redesign of the website and partner with various teams internally and an agency you’ll help select soon upon arrival.
    • • Develop and execute an inbound strategy that combines both technical and content elements across various medias and distribution channels, to drive ongoing improvements in organic search results and build a sticky audience.
    • • Set up our very first paid campaigns (Google PPC + Linkedin)  including landing page creation, ad creation, budget management.
    • • Build strong relationships with Atlassian’s marketing teams and ensure we’re leveraging the co-marketing opportunities they offer to the fullest
    • • Work with product marketing to define campaigns and support go-to-market strategy across key buyer personas
    • • Work with marketing operations to continuously improve our demand generation operations through technology and automation

Having the ability to wear multiple hats and to strategize while remaining hands-on and moving the needle yourself is key for success in this role.

About you

    • • Whether with suppliers or other internal teams, you know how to foster collaboration, stand up for your team and negotiate win-win partnerships
    • • Native English speaker or excellent fluency with strong writing skills is required for the role, as all written content and partner interactions are in English. Working proficiency in French also required.

Preferred experience

    • • 6+ years of B2B marketing experience in fast-paced technology companies, ideally in SaaS/Software  – with hands-on roles in inbound / content marketing
    • •2+ years of leadership experience in demand generation is a plus
    • • Extensive experience with key tools (Hubspot, WordPress…); prior exposure to Jira, Confluence is a plus

Experience in a predominantly self-serve go-to-market environment is a plus, given we expect the majority of our growth will be through inbound marketing and partnerships in the future (we don’t have a sales department and don’t plan to have one in the future)

 

The team

The team you’ll lead will be composed of:

    • • A Partnerships Manager – responsible for driving channel-based revenue through evangelism, enablement and joint marketing activities, co-marketing partnerships with other apps vendors and managing our events participation.
    • • A Solution Engineer – responsible for driving demand through high-quality presentations (written articles and conferences) and advising enterprise prospects and evaluators on how they can get the most out of our apps

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Marketing, you’ll work closely with the rest of the marketing & strategy department:

    • • A Product Marketing Manager – responsible for positioning, messaging, market studies, in-app marketing and product onboarding for our apps
    • • A Marketing Ops Manager – responsible for setting-up, maintaining and evolving marketing technology to empower the marketing team to be more efficient and provide the business with data visualisation dashboards to guide operations
    • • A Senior Graphic Designer – contractor, part-time, embedded within the team and working both on marketing and in-app assets

You’ll also engage with the Product Management department, the Customer Support department and the Executive Team. The Atlassian ecosystem is a vibrant community and you’ll also frequently collaborate with Atlassians, customers, solution partners (consultancies) and other app vendors.
